Room Sizing

You can work out your BTU requirement by measuring the size of the room you need to cool. However, the efficiency of the unit is dependent on various other factors such as the level of sunshine, the level of insulation, ventilation, the number of people and number of electrical units in the room.

To work out your BTU requirement, measure the cubic capacity of the room you wish to cool. Average ceiling height is 8-10 feet. Width and length can be measured by pacing. Then multiply the figure by 5 cubic feet and by 165 for cubic metres.

For example:

HEIGHT: 10 feet
LENGTH: 20 feet
Width: 15 feet

A room size that is 10 x 20 x 15 = 3000 cubic feet. 3000 x 5 = 15000 Btu's.
